The University of Minnesota and Minneapolis VA Health Care system are conducting a study, titled PENS study (Quantitative Modeling of Visual Perception Endophenotypes in Schizophrenia) to understand thinking functions and visual perceptions in individuals with mental disorders and their relatives.
This study will focus on families in which at least one member is diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
Participants will be asked to complete a set of interviews, a cognitive assessment of thinking abilities, a blood draw, an EEG, and MRI analysis. Participants will be asked to attend up to three study sessions.
Who can participate?
- Age between 18-60 years old
- Good general physical health
- No history of a central nervous system disorder or problems
- Primary language must be English
