Robyn Birkeland earned her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of South Florida. Dr. Birkeland completed her internship at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center with an emphasis in pediatric psychology. She then completed the Leadership Education in Adolescent Health Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. She has worked on various research studies at the U in the areas of child and adolescent weight management, adolescent substance use, and women's health.


Research Summary/Interests

The current study is an evaluation of the use of SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral for Treatment) for adolescents who are using substances at a mild to moderate level and/or have mild to moderate mental health issues. Other research interests include: body image and eating disorders, weight management, women's health/issues.
