Esam El-Fakahany, Ph.D.

Received his doctorate in pharmacology from the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and post-doctoral training at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He currently works in the Department of Psychiatry's Division of Neuroscience Research.
His research interests include the regulation of the sensitivity of neurotransmitter receptors by prolonged receptor activation in drug treatment, changes in neurotransmitter receptor concentration, and the sensitivity of receptors to activation during normal aging and in Alzheimer's disease, mechanisms of coupling of neurotransmitter receptors to signal transduction, and molecular mechanisms of action of psychotherapeutic agents.
