Year Two

(PGY-2):

The second year of residency training includes continuing inpatient rotations, either at Fairview-University Medical Center or VAMC. During these inpatient rotations, the residents will begin to have exposure to subspecialty areas, including chemical dependency, child-adolescent, consultation-liaison and emergency psychiatry.

Residents will also begin to treat patients in longer-term psychotherapy, under the guidance of outpatient supervisors. In 2003-2004 the traditional on call experience will be replaced by a two month night float rotation that will be divided into four 2 week blocks for each resident.
