Minutes of January 2, 2008 Meeting 

 

  • Dr. Schulz introduced Daniel Hanson, M.D., Ph.D., as the newest member of our faculty.  Dr. Hanson will be heading the FIRST Program for first-episode schizophrenia treatment.
  • Mike Nemcek will be retiring from the Department and the University.  His last day will be January 7, 2008.  His retirement party will be held after Grand Rounds on January 9 in the Paula Clayton Conference Room.
  • Dr. Paula Clayton will be presenting Grand Rounds on January 9, 2008.  Her topic will be, “What Research Tells Us about Suicide.”
  • Dr. Jon Ravdin will be leaving the Department of Medicine at the end of April and moving to Milwaukee.
  • The lunch for Inpatient faculty and hospitalists will be held on January 7, 2008 in Conference Room F263.
  • University of Minnesota Physicians has held elections to their Board.  Drs. Schulz, Clohisy and Haines were elected to serve.
  • Dr. Schulz announced the following grant receipts by Department members:
    • Dr. Steve Olson has received a grant from AstraZeneca to fund the HALO study.
    • Dr. Christopher Erbes has received a grant from Eli Lilly entitled, “Investigating the Relationship Between Partner Interactions and Post-Deployment Distress.”
