Research Interests

Primarily funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Dr. Winters' research has focused on the assessment, prevention and treatment of adolescent drug abuse. Other research interests include the root causes of addiction and problem gambling.

Selected Publications

Dr. Winters has published numerous articles in the area of addictions in journals such as the Journal of Studies on Alcohol, Psychology of Addictive Behaviors, and Journal of Gambling Studies. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Gambling Studies and the Journal of Adolescent Substance Abuse.

Other Information

He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment and the Journal of Child and Adolescent Substance Abuse, and he is a consultant to many organizations, including the Hazelden Foundation, National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Center for Responsible Gaming, and the Mentor Foundation (an international drug prevention organization).
